Wood Buffalo RCMP have charged a Fort McMurray resident for sexual assault on a child. Police responded to a residence in Thickwood, on November 22, 2011, at approximately 8:45 pm, to apprehend the 31 year-old male. Denis Labillois was arrested for assaulting a six year-old girl. Thus far the police investigation has revealed that this was not a random attack, as the victim and the accused were known to each other.
A search warrant was also executed on Labillois’ living quarters after a discovery was made of pornographic materials depicting underage children. Charged with Sexual Assault, Possession of Child Pornography and Sexual Interference, the accused has been remanded in custody.
The Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigations Section along with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) northern Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, continue to investigate.
