Boutilier will run in Fort McMurray--Wood Buffalo

Local MLA Guy Boutilier has announced which riding he’ll be running in for the next election.

“I’ve decided Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo,” he said. “It’s where my wife and I have lived for over 30 years and we’re going to represent those residents, but also all residents.”

Boutilier says he was acclaimed as the Wildrose candidate in an open nomination in October.

He says there’s been plenty of interest in the Wildrose nomination in the new Fort McMurray-Conklin riding as well.

“The nomination is coming up in January, and the candidates are really excellent candidates, and I know they’re on the same page when it comes to representing our voices,” he said.

“And the Wildrose team in Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo and Fort McMurray–Conklin, we’re going to be running as one team, representing the interests of all of our residents.”

City councillor Don Scott has announced he’ll seek the PC nomination for the new riding.

The two ridings are divided along Highway 63 and Thickwood Boulevard; with Abasand, Waterways, Gregoire, and southern Thickwood in the “Conklin” riding, while the rest of Thickwood and Timberlea as well as downtown in the “Wood Buffalo” riding.
