Apartment rents drop 7%

Apartments are getting cheaper in Fort McMurray.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation reported today that rents are down almost 7% over the past year.

The cost of a bachelor apartment has stayed almost the same at just over fourteen-hundred a month; just about double the provincial average.

But one bedroom apartments got more than five percent cheaper this year, while three or more bedroom apartments had rent go down more than ten percent to just over twenty-two hundred dollars a month.

Apartment vacancy rates almost doubled to more than 9%.
