One woman dead after fatal collision in Janvier

On December 17, 2011, shortly before 6:00 pm, Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to investigate a collision between a truck and a pedestrian on the Fort Chipewyan Prairie First Nations side of the Janvier community. A 58 year-old female was standing near a stationary vehicle on the main road when she was struck by a pick-up truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and her identity will not released at this time as police are still in the process of notifying the family.

The investigation continues and charges against the 44 year-old male driver are pending. Preliminary reports indicate that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
