Allen: Boutilier's accusations off base

PC nomination candidate Mike Allen says he’s not going to start trading jabs with the Wildrose.

Allen responded to accusations of political posturing on the upcoming seniors’ centre from local MLA Guy Boutilier.

“On the PC side, we’re not in a campaign,” he said. “We’re not campaigning. We have some campaigning, fairly heavily, going on the other side, and so far it seems to be a one-issue campaign. I think it’s unfortunate.”

The nomination candidate for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo says using the long term care centre as an election issue isn’t doing local seniors any favours.

“I believe they’re being dragged into something they don’t need to be in,” he said. “And is this issue being politicized for personal gain? Yes, I believe it is. but, quite frankly, political posturing is not something I’ve ever been particularly good at, and I don’t think it’s a skill that I’m striving to achieve, either.”

Boutilier recently said Allen and PC candidate Don Scott know when the next election will be called.

“There’s only one person who knows when the election is going to be, and that’s the premier herself,” Allen responded.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” he concluded.
