Scott: PCs are "party of change"

PC nomination candidate Don Scott says he’s not threatened by the entrance of a former mayor into the Fort McMurray-Conklin race.

Scott responded to the news that Doug Faulkner will run for the Wildrose in the new riding.

“The party of the future is the PC Party; they’re the party of change,” Scott said. “I think the negativity we see from the Wildrose is indicative of some of the approaches they take.”

Faulkner had said Scott being a first-term councillor would be a weakness.

Scott disagrees.

“He’s correct, but I have more experience than the leader of his party,” he said. “I think we should be focused on what we can do moving forward, and what this community, I believe, fundamentally needs is a voice in government.”

He says he doesn’t think Faulkner is truly a local candidate.

“I was surprised that they would look for somebody so far from the past,” he said. “I think we need leadership that’s going to move this community forward. Leadership for the 21st century, not leadership from the 1990s.”

PC nominations for the riding close at 6 o’clock today.
