RMWB responds to MacLean's article

Following an article in MacLeans Magazine that pegged Wood Buffalo as the 8th most dangerous community in the country based on crime, the municipality has issued a response.

Maclean’s used crime data from 2010, but compared it to population data from 2006; when the census showed only 61,000 people in the region, rather than the more than 104,000 at last municipal census.

Spokesperson Brendan Proce says that had the magazine used the population numbers from the 2010 census, the region would be further down the rankings.

In 2010, the RCMP say that crime was down in the region, from violent crime, to property crime.
