Barons exec. director Boutilier to step down

Fort McMurray Oil Barons executive director Andrew Boutilier is stepping down.

The former team President and assistant coach says he’s moving to Calgary as of March 1st to take a position with the Edge hockey school.

He says it wasn’t an easy decision.

“I’ve made a large family from my time with the Oil Barons, and obviously wear this organization near and dear to my heart,” he said. “Every hour of every day, I come home and talk Oil Barons.”

As executive director, Boutilier was the driving force behind such events as the final AJHL All-star game, the Northern Classic, and the team’s recent trip to the World Junior Club Cup in Russia.

Boutilier will stay with the team in an advisory role through the rest of this season.
