Provincial number of STI cases down

The province is reporting fewer cases of sexually transmitted infections. According to two reports from 2010, rates of STI cases fell for the first time since 2004.

Health and Wellness minister Fred Horne adds that HIV rates were the second-lowest ever, and cases of AIDS were the lowest they’ve been in the past 10 years.

Chief medical health officer Dr Andre Corriveau says that cases of Syphilis dropped, and are in line with the national average.

Graphic commercials that ran last year had no bearing on the two reports.
