The RMWB says that there will be weight restrictions for the winter road to Fort Chipewyan this Friday and Saturday.
Because of unseasonably warm temperatures, the road will be closed to heavy traffic over 5,000 kilograms on those days. Light traffic under 5,000 kilograms is still permitted.
Road maintenance work is ongoing and the public is reminded to use extreme caution when using the road.
Motorists are advised that there are no regular services on the Winter Road like gas stations or road patrols. Cell phone coverage is very limited. Travelers must be prepared for emergency situations.
