Ecole McTavish to reopen

The Fort McMurray Public School board says Ecole McTavish will reopen on Tuesday morning, except for its fine arts wing.

The school has been closed since Sunday night when it was used as a temporary shelter for people evacuated during the Parsons Creek Landing fire.

The board says staff and students should enter through the front entrance while evacuees and emergency personnel should use the Fine Arts wing on the right hand side of the building.

“This area will be isolated from staff and students to allow us to get back to business as usual, and provide the needed privacy of those affected by this devastating fire,” said Dennis Parsons, Superintendent.

“We very much want to welcome our neighbours any way we can, while maintaining normalcy for our staff and students,” he added.
