Throne Speech makes north a priority: Johnson

The province started off its new session with its traditional throne speech, and much of the focus is on long term planning.

Infrastructure minister Jeff Johnson, who’s the MLA for Athabasca-Redwater, says that there are strategies for developing northern Alberta.

“It did commit to ways we are developing Northern Alberta, and to initiate a comprehensive Northern Alberta development strategy,” he said. “And this is critical for us in northern Alberta; we need this to help us grow and develop in a sustainable manner and have the quality of life that we should have.”

The throne speech is also promising smarter spending.

The first Redford budget comes down tomorrow.
