Boutilier: Provincial budget "ignores" Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo MLA Guy Boutilier says today’s provincial budget ignores Fort McMurray.

“This is a budget of all talk and no actions,” he said. “Not a mention of our area, not a mention of Highway 63 or our seniors, I actually think it’s maddening.”

“They’ve mentioned other communities like Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Calgary; not so much as a word about Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo. They mention Bow Island, they mention Edson, but they forget to talk about where the economic revenue is coming from; and that’s our home in Fort McMurray.”

He says a Wildrose budget will be released tomorrow and differ greatly from what was released by the government today.

“Our budget is about listening to people,” Boutilier said. “Where the economic activity is coming from, first and foremost, infrastructure in areas where the dollars are being created should be first reinvested, so we can continue to feed the goose that is laying the golden egg.”

“Clearly this government believes that the goose should not be fed, and that is what they will pay the price on in the next election.”
