BC minister scolds Terrace for opposing pipeline

BC’s energy minister is criticizing the city council in Terrace for opposing the Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline.

Rich Coleman says he wishes they would follow the province’s lead in holding off on a position until the federal environmental review is finished.

Terrace council opposed the project after the Union of BC Municipalities also voted against it last fall.

More than 60 first nations and aboriginal organizations in BC have signed a declaration opposing the plan.

Northern Gateway would ship oil from Bruderheim to Kitimat, BC for shipment to Asia and the U-S.
