Justin Rose goes D1; commits to N. Michigan

Fort McMurray Oil Barons leading scorer Justin Rose has become the second Baron in as many days to commit to Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI.

Rose is in his final year of junior eligibility and leads the team in scoring with 37 goals and 37 assists so far; he is the highest goal scorer for the MOB since Tyler Gron in 2007-08 (39 goals), who also became a NMU Wildcat.

The speedy Gibbons, AB native also joins teammate Brock Maschmeyer as future Wildcats; Maschmeyer is expected to join the team in 2013-14.

NMU plays in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) in the top division of American college hockey.

Rose is the eighth Oil Baron on the current squad with a postsecondary commitment.
