TransCanada says it’s going to make the most urgently needed part of the Keystone XL pipeline into a stand-alone project.
The Calgary company says it hopes to complete the line from Oklahoma to the Gulf coast by mid to late 2013.
That project will cost more than 2 billion dollars and can be reviewed outside the presidential permit process, which delayed the full project this year.
A glut of supply in Oklahoma has lowered the price that Canadian producers can get for their crude.
