Oil sands companies are teaming up to improve their environmental performance.
CEOs of 12 companies have signed the founding charter of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance.
It includes companies like Shell, Suncor, and Imperial Oil.
Shell vice-president John Abbott calls it a “pivotal” moment for the industry.
The companies say it’ll break down barriers in funding, human resources, and intellectual property enforcement that might otherwise make it tougher to progress on environmental issues.
