Kearl project faces another roadblock

A judge in Montana has thrown another roadblock in the way of Imperial Oil’s Kearl project.

The journal of commerce reports that the judge ruled that the Department of Transportation has to do a more extensive environmental review of the company’s plan to ship oversized modules through the state to the 10.9 billion dollar project.

The judge says the department didn’t properly examine whether roadside turnouts being constructed for the modules would be permanent or temporary.

Imperial Oil says it’s disappointed with the decision, but notes that it only affects the Montana portion of the route, and doesn’t affect modules that are currently being moved.
