Three Fort McMurray Oil Barons are all-stars this year.
Forward Markus Gerbrandt was named as one of three forwards on the AJHL’s All-League team today.
He was second in team scoring with 32 goals and 32 assists for 64 points in 58 games, earning a scholarship to Bemidji State University in the process.
Defenceman Brock Maschmeyer was also named to the all-league team for the second straight year.
His 44 points in 60 games were among the highest for AJHL defencemen; he also made his NCAA commitment to Northern Michigan University though he’s still likely to return for a final junior season next year.
And defenceman Mike Green was named to the All-Rookie team as one of the four best first-year blueliners in the league.
The former Fort Saskatchewan Ranger played 42 games in his first Junior A season, scoring 12 points and dropping the gloves three times.
