Final Kearl project megaloads en route

The last two mega-loads of equipment for Imperial Oil’s Kearl project are on their way from Idaho.

The company says it moved three of the loads on Sunday and two more late yesterday.

The first of the two final shipments is 215 feet long and weighs 415 thousand pounds.

The second is 135 feet long and 255 thousand pounds.

The first of the 34 megaloads arrived in 2010 but were stranded because of protests.

Eventually, the company broke up the loads to make them smaller before shipping them north.
