RCMP Makes Large Cash and Drug Seizure

On March 2nd, 2012 the Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section, along with assistance from the Crime Reduction Unit and General Duty members ended a short term drug investigation. As a result of the investigation a 27 year-old male, Eric SCHOOLCRAFT, was arrested during a traffic stop and a 19 year-old female, Tamara NEFF, was arrested outside a residence in Fort McMurray. Within hours of the arrests RCMP executed a judicially authorized search warrant at a residence in the Thickwood area of Fort McMurray.

The execution of the search warrant yielded the seizure of the following items:
• over 1.5 pounds of substances believed to marihuana,
• approximately $60,000.00 in Canadian Currency believed to be proceeds of Crime,
• over 6 ounces of a substance believed to be MDMA (ecstasy),
• 15 grams of a substance believed to be ketamine,
• over 5 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine,
• and a small amount of psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

The accused, both of Fort McMurray, are scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on March 13, 2012, to deal with the following charges:
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000.00
• Possession of MDMA (ecstacy) for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Ketamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Psilocybin (mushrooms)

SCHOOLCRAFT additionally stands solely charged with 1 count of breaching a recognizance.

In this investigation alone police estimate that over 3000 individual hits of marihuana, over 1,800 individual hits of MDMA (ecstasy), over 150 individual hits of ketamine, and over 50 individual hits of cocaine have been taken off Fort McMurray streets. Wood Buffalo RCMP, along with its law enforcement partners, continue to work together in a targeted approach to disadvantaging groups and individuals who contribute to drug related activity in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
