Scott requests unpaid leave from council

[The following has been released by the campaign for Don Scott]

Fort McMurray-Conklin Progressive Conservative candidate Don Scott has announced he will request an unpaid
leave of absence from his role as a Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Councillor.

“I’ve asked for an unpaid leave of absence such that I will not be paid any salary or receive benefits, after the election is called and for the duration,” said Scott. “This is the kind of transparency that I believe the citizens of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo deserve.”

Scott, who was elected to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s council in the October 2010 election, promised to continue to work with his colleagues after the election on the issues they’ve tackled together.

“We’ve worked very hard to address longstanding issues in our community and that’s something I will continue to do while representing this region in the Alberta Legislature,” said Scott. “Part of the reason I’ve decided to run is I believe we need an MLA who can work effectively with council and other stakeholders in this region and build the relationships necessary so that our priorities are addressed by the government.”
