On March 9, 2012, at approximately 9:15 pm, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the parking lot between the Peter Pond Mall and the Boomtown Casino, in downtown Fort McMurray.

A dark coloured Pontiac sedan was rear-ended by a white Chevrolet pick-up truck. There were no reported injuries from the collision, however the investigation revealed that the driver of the truck was operating a motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol.

41 year-old Corey Tuma, of Fort McMurray, had a blood-alcohol content of over 4 times the legal limit. He has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
