Province introduces environmental monitoring panel

The province has introduced the panel of experts charged with implementing Alberta’s new multi-million dollar environmental monitoring program.

Heading up the committee is former University of Lethbridge president Howard Tennant.

He says he and his colleagues have their work cut out for them.

“In many ways, this is like stapling jello to the wall,” said Tennant. “It’s tough to do, but that’s the task that we’ve undertaken, is to see if we can come up with something that is not rigid, that will adjust over time, to the developments that Alberta is going to need over the next decade.”

The panel will report back to the government by June 30th.

11 million dollars have been set aside for the program.
