Feds crack down on elder abuse

The Harper government is cracking down on elder abuse by trying to increase sentences for those convicted of targetting seniors.

New legislation would direct judges to consider age, health and the financial situation of a victim as aggravating factors when handing out a sentence.

The NDP’s Jack Harris is also encouraging the government to support their legislation, and automatically register seniors for the guarenteed income supplement.
