Police confirm ages of five collision victims, two remain in hospital

[Provided by Wood Buffalo RCMP]

The investigation into the head-on collision on Highway 63 continues. More information regarding the victims has been made available and RCMP can now confirm that the deceased are a 34 year-old male, a 34 year-old female, a 28 year-old female, an 11 year-old female, and a 2 year-old male. Out of respect for the family, names will not be released at this time. Two further deceased in the northbound pick-up truck have not yet been positively identified and as such no further information is available on those individuals.

The injured are still reported as being in hospital. The 28 year-old male (a correction from a previous release) is reported to be in serious, but stable condition, and a 3 year-old male is said to be doing well and that his condition has improved.

Several brave civilian individuals, with little regard for their own personal safety, assisted on scene by attempting to help victims and extinguish the flames. The RCMP, and its partners, wish to extend a thank you to those members of the public for their heroism and assistance.
