Two-thirds of Canadians think it’s possible to increase oil production and still protect the environment.
A new Ipsos-Reid poll also shows 57% of the country thinks the positives of oil sands development outweight the negatives.
29% see it the other way around.
Albertans showed the most support for the industry, with Saskatchewan and Manitoba close behind.
The lowest support was in Quebec – but even there, a majority think production can be increased while the environment is protected.
75% of Canadians say the country needs to access new markets for its oil through things like new pipelines.
