The Alberta Enterprise Group is sending a trade mission to Quebec this week to try and increase public support for the oil sands, the Calgary Herald reports.

Quebeckers currently have the lowest level of support for the industry; only 37 percent of the province said in a recent poll that the oil sands are more positive than negative.

The CEO of Canadian Oil Sands Limited will speak to the Montreal Board of Trade on Wednesday about sustainability efforts at Syncrude.

AEG Vice-President David MacLean says Quebec’s provincial pension plan is heavily invested in the oil sands, and Quebec is Alberta’s second-biggest trading partner behind Ontario.
