Oil Barons D Tomchuk signs with WHL's Tri-City

Fort McMurray minor hockey product and Oil Barons defenceman Wil Tomchuk has signed a contract with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League.

The major junior squad announced the signing today.

“Wil had a very good rookie season in the AJHL. He is a good skater that plays with an edge,” Americans GM Bob Tory said in a release. “He will add considerable depth to our blueline next season.”

“We are pleased that Wil and his family have chosen the Americans and the WHL to pursue his hockey aspirations,” Tory added.

The 6’2″ blueliner played 54 games in his rookie season with the MOB, registering 6 points and 55 penalty minutes.
