McIver considering seizing speeders' vehicles

The transportation minister says he’s considering seizing the vehicles of drivers who are caught on provincial roads at extreme speeds.

Ric McIver noted that police recently caught two drivers going 180 km/h on Highway 63.

McIver says there’s a strong possbility his ministry will make some recommendations to the Premier on improving highway safety before the end of June.

The province turned down a request in 2009 for the on-the-spot seizure of vehicles caught doing more than 50km/h over the speed limit.
