McIver talks Hwy 63, safety enforcement

Transportation minister Ric McIver says that the provincial government is trying to make Alberta roads safer, but some solutions will take time.

He talked about the Highway 63 twinning project on CTV Edmonton this morning, saying that it will take some time. The stretch of road from Wandering River to Highway 55 is in the budget and underway.

McIver, along with his wife spent the May Long weekend driving up Highway 881 to Fort McMurray from Calgary, then back down Highway 63 after touring the region with local MLAs Don Scott and Mike Allen.

The minister also addressed the idea of seizing the vehicles of speeders caught on provincial roads at extreme speeds. He says that the idea actually came forward from concerned citizens.
