The vacancy rate for apartments may have gone up in Fort McMurray over the past year, but the cost is still higher than in major cities in Canada.
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says that in April, the vacancy rate in the city was around 10.8 percent, which is a province high for availability.
According to the Edmonton Journal, the cost for a two-bedroom apartment in Wood Buffalo is an average of $2031 per month. Both Vancouver and Toronto have an average price around $1200 per month for two-bedroom suites.
