The province has changed its mind on the Mariana Lake rest stop on Highway 63.
It now says it will stay open instead of closing on Monday like it had announced this week.
The government had originally said it needed to remove contaminated soil near the old gas station so that the highway could be twinned in that area.
Now it says it’s postponing the work and reviewing ways to do it while minimizing the disruptions for drivers.
The gas station and country store at the rest stop were both closed back in 2008 to supposedly make room for the twinning project.
