After finally getting its equipment up north to the Kearl project, Imperial Oil is already setting its sights on a new oil sands project.
The company says it’s planning a steam assisted gravity drainage site just south of Kearl.
The Aspen project will come in two 40-thousand barrel per day stages next decade.
The first phase of Kearl is scheduled to start producing 110 thousand b-p-d this year, eventually growing to 345 thousand.
