Chinese oil company Sinopec Shanghai Engineering will face charges for the deaths of two oilsands workers.
The Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from the company which was looking to overturn the Alberta Court of Appeal.
That court had ruled Sinopec could face 53 health and safety charges after two Chinese workers were killed when a storage tank collapsed at CNRL’s Horizon project back in 2007.
Sinopec argued it had no legal presence in Canada and couldn’t be charged.
It’ll stand trial in October alongside one of its subsidiary companies and CNRL.
