RCMP search for *possible* abducted child

UPDATE: RCMP confirm that they do not believe that a child was abducted this afternoon. After an extensive search involving air, dogs, and over fifty officers on the ground, the RCMP are not investigating an abduction from earlier this afternoon.

UPDATE: Police have removed their checkpoints in Timberlea and are no longer searching for the girl by helicopter.

RCMP are searching for a girl in the Timberlea area.

They say she’s between 3 and 5 years old and was wearing a pink dress.

She was last seen at the playground next to St. Martha’s School at 4:30 PM.

The information was not made public until after 6 o’clock.

She left with a white man, wearing beige camouflage, beige shorts and a baseball cap.

If you were anywhere near St. Martha’s this afternoon, or have any other information, call 788 4000.

Police say they do not know for sure if this is a kidnapping – the man may simply have been a parent or guardian; they’re working to find out right now.
