Think tank calls for national energy strategy

The Calgary-based Energy Policy Institute of Canada is calling for work to begin immediately on a national energy strategy.

President Doug Black has released a framework for developing a federal energy plan.

Black says it’s not the first time they’ve called for something like this.

“We recommended to the ministers of Energy last year in Kananaskis, some specific steps that could be taken around regulatory reform to streamline project approval and to continue to ensure that Canada is an attractive place for investment,” Black said.

BC Premier Christy Clark is refusing to come to the table to discuss a strategy unless her province gets more money from the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.
