Bikers convicted in Fort McMurray cocaine ring

Two men connected to the Hells Angels have been convicted in Edmonton of helping supply cocaine to the Fort McMurray area.

Alan Knapczyk and John Alcantara were found guilty of conspiring to traffic cocaine; but they were acquitted on charges of actual trafficking.

The charges were part of the massive joint drug investigation called Project Koker in 2005 that drew charges against 18 different people the following year.

The judge said the two were part of an organization that brought kilograms of cocaine into the city and used threats of violence to protect the organization.

They’ll be sentenced next month.
