Diverse workshops, partners added to Art in the Park

Fort McMurray, AB, August 21, 2012 – The MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation is delighted to announce the organizations providing free workshops at Art in the Park on Saturday at MacDonald Island Park.

Workshops and artist demonstrations will be offered in painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, graffiti, glazing pottery, collages, landscapes in watercolour, Venetian masks and Mandala design, among other disciplines. Guitarist and musician Daniel Gillies will perform throughout the day.

The following organizations will offer workshops at Art in the Park, which runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. outside at MacDonald Island:

  • Fort McMurray Public Library
  • Heritage Park (Fort McMurray Historical Society)
  • Learning Through the Arts
  • MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation
  • Pottery Verve
  • Wood Buffalo Photography Club

“We look forward to what will be a unique day at the Island,” said Michele Taylor, Director of Aquatic and Leisure Services at MacDonald Island Park. “Because of the support of these community-based organizations alongside our partners and volunteers, we are able to invite the community to engage in art during what we hope will be a beautiful afternoon.”
