NS company promising oil sands jobs being investigated

Suncor, oilsands project

A company in Nova Scotia is being accused of scamming people who are looking for jobs in the oil sands.

CBC reports that a company called Alberta Oil Sands Employment is charging around 200 dollars to put people’s names in a database for oil sands companies.

But people are complaining to both police and the Better Business Bureau that the company isn’t actually doing anything after they get the money.

The company’s gotten an “F” rating from the Bureau.

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says it’s never heard of the database, and Suncor said even if one did exist, they wouldn’t use it.
