Bad News for "Sweet Caroline"

In the wake of a child sex abuse scandal that will plague Penn State for years to come, a popular sports anthem has been banned from Nittany Lions football games.

“Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond will no longer be played at Beaver Stadium. The official reason is because it is heard so frequently at other sporting events, a Penn State spokesman told ESPN.

Spokesman David La Torre said the song has no origination at Penn State, therefore it was eliminated.

However, university officials had reportedly expressed concern with the lyrics in the past, specifically the lines, “reaching out, touching me, touching you.”
