“Goo-goo-eyed.” That’s how Tim McGraw describes how he and his wife Faith Hill felt about each other at first.
“We were goo-goo-eyed … newly, grossly, disgustingly in love,” he told People Country for their “True Stories Behind the Songs” special issue. And that’s how their duet for the 1997 smash, “It’s Your Love,” was born. They had just started dating and were sitting on the back of the bus when their producer’s wife played the demo for them. “Instantly, I looked at Faith and said, ‘We’re going to do this song together.’ It was just that simple and quick,” he recalled.
He also said that it’s still — after all these years — a special song to them. “At the risk of sounding even more disgusting, it’s because we still feel that way after 15 years,” he said. “Most of the time.”
I wouldn’t call that disgusting. Rare, for sure. But not disgusting.
