Dixie Chicks and Court Yard Hounds co-founder Emily Robison has given birth to a baby girl.
The Boot reports that Violet Isabel came into the world on on Tuesday, September 4, weighing 8.5 pounds.
‘Mom and baby Violet are doing well and Dad couldn’t be happier,’ the Dixie Chicks posted on their Facebook page.
Violet is the singer-songwriter’s fourth child and first with boyfriend Martin Strayer. She has three older children, Gus, 9, and twins Juliana and Henry, 7, with ex-husband Charlie Robison. All were conceived through IVF.
Both Emily and her sister and bandmate Martie Maguire have been open about their fertility problems. The Dixie Chicks’ song ‘So Hard,’ from the album Taking the Long Way, is about their difficulties conceiving children and carrying them to term, says The Boot.
The three Dixie Chicks have nine children between them. Martie Maguire has three daughters, while lead singer Natalie Maines has two sons.
