Scotty McCreery Breaks World Record

Country music star and American Idol winner Scotty McCreery has made the record books.

The Boot reports that McCreery will enter the Guinness Book of World Records in 2013 for claiming the title of youngest male to break out onto the U.S. album charts at number one.

The singer was just 18 when his debut disc Clear as Day topped the Billboard 200 albums chart back in 2011. That spectacular performance made McCreery the first Idol to debut with a number one album since Ruben Studdard managed the feat back in 2003.

Other Idol contestant who have hit number one are Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry (of Daughtry) and Adam Lambert.

McCreery recently announced that he is working on a Christmas album, Christmas with Scotty McCreery, set for release October 16. The record will feature classic Christmas songs as well as two original tracks.
