Miskanaw Golf Club opens new No. 9; continues 2012 re-development

(Fort McMurray, AB, September 18, 2012) – Miskanaw Golf Club has initiated re-development on two new holes following the official opening of a new No. 9 as it continues its 2012 re-development of Miskanaw Golf Course.

Construction has begun on a new No. 6 and No. 7, and while the basic structure of the holes will remain the same, players can expect a better experience, said Rob MacGregor, CPGA Director of Golf & Grounds.

“We’re planning a more contemporary design for a new No. 6 and No. 7 at Miskanaw,” said MacGregor. “New sod will be placed on both holes from tee to green, making for earliest possible playing access on Canada Day, 2013.”

Miskanaw Golf Club is excited to announce that a new No. 9 is available to members and green fee players. The newest addition to the Miskanaw Golf Course measures close to 400 yards from the back tee and approximately 275 yards from the front decks. The hole plays out to a fairway bunker on the left and two well-placed bunkers on the right. The green is guarded by one back ‘pot’ bunker and one larger green protector bunker to the player’s left side.

With No. 6 and No. 7 currently in re-development, No. 12 has been split into a par-3 and a par-4 to give players additional options on the course.

Looking ahead to the fall and winter season at Miskanaw Golf Club, more information on the state-of-the-art Golf Simulator in addition to Early Bird Membership rates for 2013 will be released in the weeks ahead. The Golf Simulator and Early Bird Membership rates are slated to be available in early November.
