Linkin Park Hits 1 Billion Viewers on YouTube Channel

Linkin Park has beaten the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day to become the first rock band to score over one billion hits on YouTube.

British music mag NME reports that the California rockers have topped the billion views mark on YouTube with their channel LinkinParkTV. That puts them in elite company, as the only other musicians to manage such huge numbers are Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

The Bieb, of course, tops them all with over 2.8 billion hits.

The only other rock acts to come anywhere close to the marker are RHCP with 327 million views and Green Day, with 245 million.

The band is obviously intent on keeping up a strong relationship with its fanbase, as Rolling Stone recently reported that Linkin Park’s latest music video incorporates fan photos from Facebook.

The clip for ‘Lost in the Echo’ is “a new form of personalization in a music video” according to director Jason Zada.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda says the band was keen to try something new.

“We’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of videos and at a certain point, they all start to feel similar,” Shinoda says speaking to YouTube channel What’s Trending. “So for the song ‘Lost in the Echo,’ we decided to try to do something extra personal.’
