Still no random drug tests yet as Suncor loses appeal

Suncor, oilsands project

The Alberta Court of Appeal has ruled against Suncor and kept its random drug testing program on the back burner, for now.

The company had hoped to set aside an injunction that prevented the program from starting last week.

But a court judge ruled against the company – it’ll now have to make its case on November 28th in front of a full panel of three appeal court judges.

The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union won the injunction against the random testing program which stopped it from starting and ordered the two sides to go into arbitration.
