MacDonald Island Park and ATB Financial officially launch Mi Day

(Fort McMurray, AB, October 25, 2012) – MacDonald Island Park in partnership with ATB Financial is excited to officially launch the ATB Financial Mi Day program.

 ATB Financial Mi Day is a program designed to introduce over 1,300 elementary school-aged children in grades 4-6 to sports, fitness and wellness programs at MacDonald Island park. The program is guided by a team of recreation professional and is supported by ATB Financial as title partner.

 “A lot of Fort McMurray’s wealth is underground, and the expertise needed to puit it to work for all of us is astounding, really,” said Dave Mowat, ATB Financial’s Presiden and Chief Executive Officer. “But there’s an even deeper resource here, and it’s the wealth of this community symbolize by madDonald island park and mi Day. That future is worth being a part of.”

 The ATB Financial Mi Day program is a free one-day recreation experience involving participation in three of five activities:

  • Curling (led by Fort McMurray Oilsands Curling Club)
  • Golf via the Start new at Golf (SNAG) program
  • Fitness
  • Skating (led by Noralta Skating Club)
  • Swimming

 To date, 22 of 26 ATB Financial Mi Day program dates for 2012-2013 have been filled. Interested schools are invited to visit macdonaldisland.ca to register or for more information.
