City could try internet voting for 2013

Next year’s municipal election could allow online voting.

Council will be asked tomorrow to approve an internet and telephone voting pilot project alongside the City of Grande Prairie.

Both municipalities had been rebuffed in March when they each proposed the idea, but the province now says it’s open to a pilot project and could assist them in the form of a grant.

The city estimates it’ll cost $300,000 to put the project in place.
