New day program for dependent adults

AHS is offering a new adult day program at the YMCA, that will help dependent adults who live at home.

Northern Lights and the YMCA Wood Buffalo are offering therapeutic daytime activities for dependent adults 50 years of age and older.

It will give them social and recreational activities such as discussion forums, games, crafts and cognitive group sessions.

It also includes nursing and personal care assistance and consultation with health care professionals.

There is a home care assessment in order to ensure the program will best suit their needs.

It can  accommodate 6 to 10 clients per day.

That number may increase depending on several factors, including level of care required and if individuals require partial- or full-day care.

In a release, Vice-President of Clinical Operations for the North Zone of AHS  Allan Bradley, says the program is essentially continuing care without the beds.
